Since 1940, Dakota Community Bank & Trust has been rooted in the communities we serve. What began as a single hometown bank in Hebron, North Dakota, has grown into a trusted financial partner with locations across North and South Dakota, while maintaining the same commitment to personal service and community values that guided us from the start.
Our History
1940–1982 | Our Beginning
Security Bank of Hebron was chartered in Hebron, North Dakota in 1940. For more than four decades, the bank served local communities while building a strong foundation rooted in hometown values.
1983–1991 | New Leadership & Ownership
In the early 1980s, a group of Nebraskan investors acquired Security Bank of Hebron and formed Hebron Banshares, Inc. Dale Pahlke became President and CEO in 1982, followed by Stan Sayler joining the bank in 1984. By the early 1990s, majority ownership transitioned to bank leadership, directors, and employees.
1992–1997 | Growth & Rebranding
The acquisition of 1st State Bank of New Leipzig in 1992 marked a period of expansion. In 1995, the bank opened a new facility in Dickinson, changed its name to Dakota Community Bank, and established Dickinson as its home office. In 1997, corporate restructuring and mergers positioned Hebron as the corporate headquarters and supported continued growth.
1998–2004 | Regional Expansion
Dakota Community Bank expanded its footprint with new branches in Mandan, Bismarck, Lincoln, Glen Ullin, Bowman, and an additional location in Dickinson, strengthening its presence across North Dakota.
2005–2010 | National Charter–2004 | Regional Expansion
In 2005, the bank transitioned to a national charter under the name Dakota Community Bank, National Association. Expansion continued with additional locations, including a second branch in Bismarck.
2011–Present | Dakota Community Bank & Trust
In 2011, the bank assumed trust powers and became Dakota Community Bank & Trust, N.A. Continued growth led to new branches in Richardton, North Dakota in 2021 and Mobridge, South Dakota in 2023. Today, Dakota Community Bank & Trust operates 13 branches across North and South Dakota, delivering a full range of financial services with a continued commitment to community.
